Wivelsfield Parish Council (WPC) has prepared a number of responses to the large scale planning applications received from Lewes District Council. As a Statutory Consultee, WPC provides comments on each of the applications. These comments can be found on the Lewes District Council website but are summarised on these pages.
Planning Update – January 2026
Wivelsfield Parish Council has engaged Troy Planning + Design to provide professional planning support and to prepare robust objections to the most significant speculative, developer-led planning applications affecting the parish. Troy Planning + Design is also helping the Parish Council set out a clear picture of where development pressure is greatest, what the key constraints are (e.g. roads, drainage, landscape and services), and what this means for the parish’s overall approach to growth.
To date, representations have been submitted on behalf of the Parish Council in response to major proposals including: LW/24/0820 (up to 150 dwellings, land south of Green Road/east of Eastern Road), LW/25/0442 (up to 80 dwellings, land north of Green Road), LW/25/0071 and DM/25/0827 (up to 130 dwellings, land east of Lunces Hill), LW/25/0286 (27 dwellings, North Common Road) and LW/25/0527 (up to 100 dwellings, land south of South Road). The Parish Council’s submissions focus on key planning considerations, including compliance with the Development Plan, the suitability of locations for growth, whether proposals can be supported by adequate infrastructure and services, and impacts on landscape, design, access and housing mix.
Looking ahead, this work is also supporting the Parish Council’s wider strategic response including input to the emerging Local Plan and evidence to inform future updates to the Neighbourhood Plan. While the Parish Council will continue to make formal representations, it is important that individual residents submit their own comments as well. Decision-makers place weight on local feedback, particularly where it identifies site-specific impacts and is grounded in planning considerations. Links to the Parish Council’s representations will be provided so residents can read the detail and make their own submissions.
